New combo drug strategy aims to help Crohn's patients who Don't respond fully to standard therapy
NCT ID NCT07510191
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a low dose of upadacitinib (a JAK inhibitor) to a standard TNF inhibitor (like infliximab or adalimumab) works better than simply increasing the dose of the TNF inhibitor alone for people with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease. About 312 adults who are not getting enough benefit from their current TNF inhibitor will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups. The main goal is to see if more patients achieve remission (symptom-free status) after 14 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Upadacitinib (a JAK inhibitor) combined with a standard TNF inhibitor (infliximab or adalimumab)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with Crohn's disease who don't get enough benefit from standard TNF inhibitors alone.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 4 trial with 312 participants, so results are still preliminary. Adding upadacitinib may increase side effects like infections, and the benefit over standard dose intensification is not yet proven.
