NCT ID NCT02405364
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial tested a three-drug combination (carfilzomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone) followed by a stem cell transplant and maintenance therapy in 46 newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients aged 65 or younger. The goal was to see if this intensive approach could lead to deep remissions. The study is complete, but results are not yet widely available.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
carfilzomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone (CRd) with stem cell transplant
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could improve remission rates and delay disease progression in younger multiple myeloma patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (46 patients) with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. The intensive regimen carries risks like infection and bleeding.
