Sleep apnea breakthrough: CPAP plus sleep pill may slash blood pressure

NCT ID NCT07357272

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at how well CPAP therapy lowers blood pressure in people with obstructive sleep apnea and high blood pressure. It also tests whether adding a mild sleep medication (trazodone or zolpidem) for those with insomnia can boost the blood pressure benefits. About 200 adults aged 18–70 will use CPAP nightly for 3 months, with some also taking a sleep aid for 4 weeks. The goal is to find out who benefits most and improve treatment for future patients.
