Standing strong: new study tests Home-Based therapy for kids with cerebral palsy
NCT ID NCT07252713
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a telehealth program that coaches parents to use adaptive standers can improve physical activity, sleep, and endurance in children ages 1-6 with severe motor delays (like cerebral palsy). Twenty children and their parents will take part in 8 weeks of standing sessions (3 times a week, 30 minutes each), with one weekly session guided by a physical therapist via video call. Researchers will measure changes in activity, sleep, and parent stress using wearable sensors and questionnaires.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
adaptive stander and parent coaching via telehealth
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a practical, home-based way to improve physical activity and sleep in young children with severe motor delays.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study (20 children) with no control group, so results may not be generalizable. The intervention is short (8 weeks) and relies on parent participation.
