Gentler breathing support tested to save more COVID-19 patients

NCT ID NCT04349618

Summary

This study tested a gentler way to use breathing machines for hospitalized COVID-19 patients with severe lung failure. Researchers compared the standard method to an 'ultraprotective' method that uses smaller, gentler breaths. The goal was to see if this gentler approach could help more patients survive and spend fewer days on the breathing machine.
