First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looked at how a 3-day course of hydrocortisone (a corticosteroid) affects memory and the hippocampus, a brain region key for learning. Researchers used advanced MRI scans and memory tests in 66 healthy adults and people with depression. The goal was to understand which parts of the hippocampus are most sensitive to steroids and whether depression changes the brain's response.
