Could a simple Pre-Transplant treatment sharpen vision for keratoconus patients?

NCT ID NCT04584125

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether treating donor corneal tissue with a cross-linking procedure before transplant can reduce astigmatism (blurry or distorted vision) and improve eyesight in people with keratoconus. About 216 adults aged 18 to 50 who need a cornea transplant will receive either cross-linked or standard donor tissue. The goal is to see if the treated tissue leads to better vision and a more stable cornea after surgery.
