New drug fights common cold to protect vulnerable lungs

NCT ID NCT06149494

Summary

This study tested an experimental drug called vapendavir to see if it could reduce serious lung symptoms in people with COPD after they caught a common cold virus. Researchers gave the drug or a placebo to 52 adults with moderate COPD who were then exposed to the virus. The main goal was to see if the drug lowered the severity of symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, and cough compared to the placebo.
