New models may estimate breathing muscle strength without fancy gear

NCT ID NCT07598292

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 123 adults with COPD or asthma to see if doctors can estimate breathing muscle strength using easy-to-get measurements like peak airflow and body composition. Participants did breathing tests and a fixed-pressure exercise until they got tired. The goal was to create prediction models that could help clinics without special devices. The study did not test any treatment, only observed and measured.
