First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests if carefully cooling the body of newborns who suffered brain injury from lack of oxygen at birth can improve their chances of survival and long-term brain development. The treatment, called therapeutic hypothermia, is already used in some hospitals. This trial will follow 120 babies to see how well it works and how it affects their thinking, language, and movement skills as they grow.
