First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests whether special reflective roof coatings, called cool roofs, can lower indoor temperatures and improve health for people living in hot areas of Mexico. About 800 households will take part, with some getting the cool roof and others not. Researchers will measure effects on heart rate, blood sugar, mood, and heat-related symptoms to see if this simple fix helps communities adapt to rising heat.
