Painting roofs white to beat the heat: can a simple coating save lives?
NCT ID NCT06834893
Summary
This study is testing if applying a special sunlight-reflecting coating to roofs can help keep homes cooler during extreme heat in Colima, Mexico. Researchers will enroll 800 people to see if these 'cool roofs' improve physical health (like heart rate and blood sugar), mental well-being, sleep, and reduce energy costs. The goal is to find a simple, affordable way to protect vulnerable communities from the worsening health risks of climate change.
