Better vision for aging eyes: new lenses tackle two problems at once
NCT ID NCT06461455
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested new multifocal contact lenses designed for people with both presbyopia (age-related blurry near vision) and astigmatism (blurry vision due to an irregularly shaped cornea). 95 habitual contact lens wearers wore the lenses for 30 days, and researchers measured how clearly they could see at a distance. The goal was to see if the new lenses perform well in everyday use.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Lehfilcon A multifocal for astigmatism contact lenses
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new comfortable contact lens option for people who need both multifocal and astigmatism correction.
What could go wrong
This is a small completed study comparing two lens types, so results may not apply to all users. Individual comfort and vision can vary.
