One shot or two? study tests best way to give tdap and RSV vaccines in pregnancy
NCT ID NCT07097012
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is looking at whether it's safe and effective to give the Tdap vaccine (for whooping cough) and the RSV vaccine at the same doctor's visit during pregnancy, or if they should be given separately. The researchers will recruit 60 healthy pregnant individuals and randomly assign them to receive both vaccines together or at different visits. The main goal is to see if a larger trial is possible, but they will also track side effects and immune responses in mothers and babies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) and RSV vaccine (respiratory syncytial virus)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that giving both vaccines at the same visit is safe and effective, simplifying prenatal care and protecting both mother and baby from whooping cough and RSV.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 60 participants, focused on feasibility, not on proving the vaccines work. Results may not apply to all pregnant individuals, and the study may not detect rare side effects.
