Socks against side effects: simple stockings may shield nerves during chemo

NCT ID NCT07164950

First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether wearing a compression stocking on one foot during antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) infusions can prevent peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage causing numbness or pain). Fifty-eight advanced cancer patients will wear a stocking on their left foot only, while the right foot serves as a comparison. Researchers will track nerve symptoms and quality of life over 24 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
medical-grade compression stocking (20-30 mmHg)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to prevent nerve damage from certain cancer treatments, improving quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (58 people) with a self-controlled design, so results may not apply broadly. The benefit may be modest or not statistically significant.
