New drug may reduce Post-Surgery urinary problems

NCT ID NCT05887375

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two different drugs used to reverse the effects of a muscle relaxant (rocuronium) after elective spine surgery. The goal was to see if one drug (sugammadex) causes less urinary retention (trouble urinating) than the standard combination (neostigmine/glycopyrrolate). 118 adults having outpatient back surgery took part. The results could help doctors choose the best option to reduce this common side effect.
