New scope method for liver biopsy tested against standard procedure

Summary
This study compared two methods for taking liver tissue samples and measuring blood pressure in the liver: one using an endoscope through the mouth (EUS) and the other using a catheter inserted through a neck vein (transjugular). 58 adults with chronic liver disease or portal hypertension took part. The goal was to see which method works better and is safer.
