Dental filling showdown: bioactive vs. standard materials tested for durability
NCT ID NCT07524842
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares three types of dental fillings—bioactive, nanohybrid, and bulk-fill—for treating cavities between teeth. Sixty adults with at least three cavities will receive each type of filling and be monitored for up to four years. The goal is to see which material holds up best and causes fewer problems over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dental filling materials (bioactive composite, nanohybrid resin composite, bulk-fill resin composite)
What this could lead to
If one material performs better, dentists may have clearer guidance on which filling to use for long-lasting cavity repairs.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants. Results may not apply to all patients or tooth types, and long-term durability is still unknown.
