First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether female community health volunteers could encourage adults in semi-urban Nepal to be more physically active. 264 adults took part in a program where volunteers visited homes to teach about exercise. The goal was to see if this approach increases daily moderate-to-vigorous activity. The trial is complete, and results will show if the program worked.

Active substance

behavioral intervention: educational sessions led by female community health volunteers

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that community-based education is an effective way to increase physical activity, helping reduce inactivity-related health risks.

What could go wrong

This is a completed trial, but results are not yet published. The intervention may not produce a meaningful increase in physical activity, and findings may not apply to other settings.
