Local health workers bridge gap for young adults with diabetes

NCT ID NCT05211869

Summary

This study tested whether specially trained community health workers could help young adults from underrepresented minority groups start and keep using diabetes technology like continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. For 9 months, 119 participants were randomly assigned to either receive this extra support or continue with their usual care. The goal was to see if hands-on education, goal-setting, and help navigating insurance could make these helpful technologies more accessible and easier to stick with.
