New trial: will 24/7 vital sign monitoring save Post-Surgery patients?
NCT ID NCT07385092
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares continuous vital sign monitoring to standard nurse spot-checks for patients recovering from non-cardiac surgery on regular hospital wards. Researchers want to see if constant monitoring reduces the time patients spend with abnormal vital signs in the first 48 hours. About 264 adults aged 45 and older will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
continuous vital sign monitoring device
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that continuous monitoring helps catch problems earlier in patients recovering from surgery on normal wards.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center trial, so results may not apply to all hospitals. The monitoring may also cause false alarms or not improve patient outcomes.
