Colonoscopy could reveal Parkinson's years before symptoms

NCT ID NCT07217054

Summary

This study is testing whether doctors can detect early signs of Parkinson's disease or REM sleep behavior disorder by analyzing tiny tissue samples taken during routine colonoscopies. Researchers want to see if they can find a specific protein that builds up in people with these conditions. Currently, these disorders are diagnosed only after symptoms appear, but earlier detection could help start treatments sooner.
