Which position makes colonoscopy easier? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT07517848
First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tested whether starting a colonoscopy with the patient lying on their back (supine) or on their left side (left-lateral) affects pain and how long the procedure takes. 198 adults having a colonoscopy were randomly assigned to one of the two positions. The goal was to see if the supine position could make the scope pass more easily through the sigmoid colon, potentially reducing discomfort and procedure time.
