First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested whether the anti-inflammatory drug colchicine can reduce common complications after coronary artery bypass surgery in people who recently had a heart attack. One hundred patients were randomly assigned to receive colchicine or a placebo for 30 days after surgery. The goal was to see if the drug lowers the risk of post-surgery heart issues like irregular heartbeat, heart attack, or inflammation around the heart.
