Brain exercises in hospital may help seniors recover from confusion
NCT ID NCT04740567
Summary
This study tested whether starting brain training exercises early during a hospital stay could help older adults (65+) recover their thinking skills after experiencing sudden, severe confusion (delirium). 283 patients were randomly assigned to receive either the special cognitive training program or usual hospital care. The training involved daily sessions in the hospital and weekly follow-up sessions for 12 weeks after going home, with the main goal of improving overall cognition four months later.
