NCT ID NCT06570811
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether taking Coenzyme Q10, a natural antioxidant, can help prevent or reduce side effects from chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. Forty women newly diagnosed with breast cancer and about to start chemotherapy took either Coenzyme Q10 or a placebo. Researchers tracked common side effects like fatigue, nerve damage, nausea, and anemia to see if the supplement made a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Coenzyme Q10 (an antioxidant found in foods and made by the body)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a way to ease chemotherapy side effects like fatigue, nerve pain, and nausea in breast cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 40 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and Coenzyme Q10 might not reduce toxicity significantly.
