First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether a cocoa flavonol supplement could improve body composition, metabolism, and inflammation in obese teenagers aged 10 to 16. Over 12 weeks, 104 participants either received the supplement or a placebo, alongside standard diet and exercise advice. The goal was to see if cocoa compounds could reduce fat and lower health risks like insulin resistance and inflammation.
