First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 04, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a cochlear implant can safely help adults aged 65 and older who are deaf in one ear but hear normally in the other. Fifteen participants received the implant and were tested on understanding speech in background noise over a year. The goal was to see if the implant improved their ability to hear when noise comes from the good ear side.
