Fighting a stubborn virus: borrowed immune cells target CMV

NCT ID NCT02210078

Summary

This study is testing a treatment for a viral infection called CMV that can be dangerous for people who have had a stem cell transplant. It uses special white blood cells from a donor who has fought off CMV before. The goal is to see if these 'borrowed' immune cells can help clear the infection in patients where standard antiviral drugs have not worked.
