New hope for hard-to-treat seizures: experimental drug enters final testing phase
NCT ID NCT05066217
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether an experimental drug called clemizole HCl can help reduce seizures in people with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy that often starts in childhood. About 260 children and adults aged 2 to 55 will receive either the drug or a placebo alongside their usual seizure medications. The main goal is to see if the drug lowers the number of drop seizures (sudden falls) over several weeks.
