First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether clear aligners with rubber bands can correct a mild overbite (Class II malocclusion) as well as traditional braces. Twenty-four people aged 15-20 will be randomly assigned to either clear aligners or braces, both with elastics. Researchers will measure changes in jaw position and tooth alignment using X-rays.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
clear aligners with intermaxillary elastics
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that clear aligners are as effective as braces for correcting mild overbite, offering a more comfortable and less visible treatment option.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The study measures bone and tooth changes, not long-term stability or patient satisfaction.
