Which antiseptic works best for revision joint surgery? new trial aims to find out.
NCT ID NCT05828810
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two types of antiseptic skin cleaners (chlorhexidine-alcohol vs. povidone-iodine) used before repeat hip or knee replacement surgery. The goal is to see which cleaner better prevents infections or wound problems that might need another surgery within a year. About 400 adults having aseptic revision joint replacement will take part, and researchers will also check if a larger trial is possible.
