First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether a dietary supplement called citicoline could improve sleep and thinking in 100 older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a condition that can lead to Alzheimer's disease. Participants took citicoline or a placebo for several months. Researchers measured sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and Alzheimer's-related markers in blood and spinal fluid. The goal was to see if citicoline could help with sleep problems and slow cognitive decline.
