NCT ID NCT07399795

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at over 7,000 older adults (65+) with reduced kidney function who started taking the antidepressant citalopram. Researchers compared a 20 mg/day dose to a 10 mg/day dose to see if the higher dose increased the risk of serious events like hospitalization, emergency visits, or death within 30 days. The goal was to provide safety information to guide prescribing in this vulnerable group.
