Can a simple blood test spot recurrent brain tumors?
NCT ID NCT07398170
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aims to find out if tumor cells can be detected in the blood or spinal fluid of patients whose aggressive meningioma has come back. Researchers will take blood and spinal fluid samples from 15 adults with recurrent grade 2 or 3 meningioma. This is a proof-of-concept study, meaning it is a first step to see if the approach is possible, not a treatment trial.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a simple blood or spinal fluid test can detect tumor cells in recurrent meningioma, potentially leading to earlier detection or monitoring.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early proof-of-concept study with only 15 participants. It is not testing a treatment, so it may not lead to any direct patient benefit. The detection method may not be sensitive enough.
