New study aims to sharpen diagnosis of nerve system disorders

NCT ID NCT03648905

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study aims to improve how doctors test for autonomic failure, a condition where the body's automatic functions like blood pressure control don't work properly. About 89 adults with Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, or related conditions will undergo a series of tests over up to a week, including blood draws, sweat tests, brain scans, and skin biopsies. The goal is to better understand and diagnose these disorders, not to test a new treatment.
