New heart attack strategy: early cholesterol shot may save lives

Summary
This study tests giving a powerful cholesterol-lowering drug (PCSK9 inhibitor) to people within 24 hours of a heart attack, then every 12 weeks for 6 months. The goal is to see if this approach safely lowers cholesterol, reduces inflammation, and prevents future heart problems compared to standard care. About 2,442 adults with a recent heart attack will take part.
