New tool could help doctors spot heart attacks faster, reduce unnecessary hospital visits

NCT ID NCT05827237

Summary

This study tested a new decision-making tool for family doctors to use when a patient comes in with chest pain. The tool combines a simple checklist with a quick blood test to help doctors decide if a patient is likely having a heart attack and needs to go to the hospital. The goal was to see if this approach could safely reduce unnecessary referrals to the emergency room while still catching all serious heart problems.
