New study aims to predict chemo risks for seniors with breast cancer
NCT ID NCT01472094
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is looking for ways to predict which older adults (age 65 and up) with early-stage breast cancer are more likely to have serious side effects from chemotherapy. Researchers will collect medical information and blood samples from 700 participants to build a model that could help doctors tailor treatments. The goal is to reduce harm and improve quality of life for older cancer patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors predict which older adults are at higher risk for chemotherapy side effects, allowing for safer, more personalized treatment plans.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to immediate changes in care, and the findings might not apply to all patients or settings.
