New stent aims to keep leg arteries open longer
NCT ID NCT06410313
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early study tests a new stent coated with a drug called ridaforolimus in 30 people with blocked arteries in the thigh or knee area. The stent is designed to prop the artery open and slowly release medication to prevent it from narrowing again. Participants will be followed for three years to see if the artery stays open and if the treatment is safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ridaforolimus (drug-coated stent)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this stent could offer a new option to keep leg arteries open longer, reducing the need for repeat procedures.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early, small study (30 people) with no comparison group. The stent may not work as hoped, and risks include reblockage or complications from the procedure.
