240 patients to test if SMART stents keep leg arteries open Long-Term
NCT ID NCT07338890
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will follow 240 people who have already received a SMART stent to treat narrowing in their leg arteries (iliac, femoral, or popliteal). Researchers want to see how well the stents work over time and if they prevent major complications like amputation. The goal is to confirm the stents are safe and effective for long-term use.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
S.M.A.R.T. nitinol stent system (a mesh tube placed in the artery to keep it open)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could confirm that these stents are a safe and effective long-term option for treating blocked leg arteries, potentially reducing the need for repeat procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a post-market observational study, not a randomized trial, so results may be less definitive. Stents carry risks like re-narrowing or blood clots, and long-term benefits are not guaranteed.
