Smart MRI could help surgeons see and remove more brain cancer

NCT ID NCT06448286

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special MRI technique called CEST can help surgeons remove more glioblastoma tumor tissue during surgery. Standard surgery removes only the part of the tumor that shows up on regular MRI, but cancer cells often spread beyond that area. CEST MRI may reveal those hidden cells. The trial will compare how long patients live without their cancer growing after CEST-guided surgery versus standard surgery. About 60 adults with newly diagnosed glioblastoma will take part.
