New screw cage may improve neck fusion surgery outcomes
NCT ID NCT07430163
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two surgical devices used in neck fusion surgery for cervical degenerative disc disease. One device is a cage with built-in screws, the other is a traditional cage without screws. The goal is to see which leads to better bone fusion and fewer complications. Forty patients will be followed for one year after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cervical cage with integrated screws (device)
What this could lead to
If the screw-integrated cage works better, it could reduce complications like cage sinking or incomplete bone fusion after neck surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 patients. The new device may not prove superior, and surgery always carries risks like infection or nerve damage.
