Lymphedema therapy may also boost sleep and Well-Being in breast cancer survivors
NCT ID NCT06697158
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether complex decongestive physiotherapy (CDP) can improve sleep quality and quality of life in women with stage 2 breast cancer-related lymphedema. CDP includes massage, skin care, compression bandages, and exercises. The study will follow 31 women for 4 weeks of intensive treatment plus a maintenance phase. Researchers will measure sleep using a standard questionnaire and quality of life with a lymphedema-specific tool.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- complex decongestive physiotherapy (manual lymphatic drainage, skin care, compression bandaging, and exercise)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that adding a maintenance phase to standard lymphedema therapy improves sleep and quality of life for women with stage 2 breast cancer-related lymphedema.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 31 participants and no control group, so results may not apply to all patients. The therapy is already standard, so the main question is whether the maintenance phase adds extra benefit.
