New PET scan targets hidden cancers with precision
NCT ID NCT06852638
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a special PET/CT scan that uses radioactive tracers to find cancers that have a protein called CD70 on their surface. The cancers being studied include kidney cancer, lymphoma, and nasopharyngeal cancer. About 300 adults will receive an injection of the tracer and then have a scan to see how well it lights up tumors. The goal is to see if this method is better than standard scans for diagnosing these cancers.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
radioactive tracers ([18F]RCCB6, [18F]R8B4, [68Ga]R8B4) that bind to CD70 on cancer cells
What this could lead to
If successful, this imaging method could help doctors detect certain cancers more accurately and guide treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial, so it is still early. The tracers may not reliably distinguish all cancer types, and results may not apply to other cancers.
