First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether adding a smartphone app (CBT MobileWork-V) to standard cognitive behavioral therapy helps veterans with depression learn and use therapy skills better. Fifteen OEF/OIF/OND veterans with depression took part. The app was designed to make it easier to practice CBT skills at home.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- CBT MobileWork-V smartphone app plus cognitive behavioral therapy
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could give veterans a convenient tool to practice therapy skills and potentially improve depression recovery.
- What could go wrong
- This was a very small pilot study with only 15 participants, so results may not apply widely. The app is an add-on, not a standalone treatment.
