Blood protein may reveal hidden heart risks in scleroderma patients

NCT ID NCT07209644

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a protein called catestatin in the blood can help doctors understand heart and blood vessel damage in people with systemic sclerosis (a disease that causes hardening of the skin and internal organs). Researchers will compare catestatin levels in 70 adults with systemic sclerosis to those in healthy volunteers. The goal is to see if catestatin could be used as a simple blood test to track disease activity and severity.
