Cash after prison: a bold test to break the cycle

NCT ID NCT07265375

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving people leaving prison a series of cash payments (first $1,000, then $750 for 11 months) can improve their physical and mental health, housing stability, and financial well-being, while also reducing the chance they return to prison. Researchers will follow 450 adults exiting Nebraska state prisons to measure these outcomes. The goal is to see if direct financial support helps people successfully reenter society.
