Paraffin or shockwaves: which eases carpal tunnel pain best?
NCT ID NCT07167667
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at two different physiotherapy treatments—paraffin baths and shockwave therapy—for people with carpal tunnel syndrome. Researchers will measure nerve thickness, nerve activity, pain levels, and quality of life in 60 adults aged 30-60. The goal is to see which treatment offers more relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
paraffin bath and extracorporeal shock wave therapy
What this could lead to
If this study shows one therapy works better, it could point toward a more effective non-surgical treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.
What could go wrong
This is a small, observational study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares existing treatments, not a new breakthrough.
