First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a behavioral program called CareMeds that teaches parents skills to help their young children (ages 3-9) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia take oral chemotherapy at home. Researchers will enroll 100 families across two cities to see if the program is feasible and acceptable. They will measure parenting behaviors and how consistently children take their medication using electronic bottle caps.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

CareMeds behavioral parenting intervention

What this could lead to

If successful, this program could help parents better manage their child's oral chemotherapy, potentially improving treatment outcomes for pediatric leukemia.

What could go wrong

This is an early feasibility study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to all families. The intervention is behavioral, not a drug, so it won't directly treat the disease.
